Day 1 is in the books! How are you doing so far? Congratulations for completing your first full day of fasting for a healthier 2015!
(If you’re just finding this post for the first time, and wondering how to do a juice cleanse, be sure to check out my previous posts on my Complete Plan for a 5 Day Juice Cleanse and Preparing for a Juice Cleanse Reboot).
Here are a few tips I thought of throughout the day that I wanted to pass along. Hopefully they’ll make the rest of the week even more productive for you (and maybe a little easier too!):
You may have noticed more gas and/or bloating than usual past two days. This is completely normal! I know you’re thinking, “But, a juice cleanse is supposed to give me a flatter tummy!!” Don’t stress. Your body is working hard to detox and cleanse itself and this is a normal reaction. It will subside and you’ll feel better than ever!
While your body is working so hard, you want to take it easy. Don’t do any more exercise this week than you’re normally used to, and if you aren’t an exerciser at all, don’t do any more than light walking. Also make sure you get plenty of rest this week, and extra sleep if possible.
You many have also noticed that juicing makes you COLD! Remember, you can also make a batch of potassium broth (recipe here). I like to save it for the evenings and use a spoon to eat/sip it slowly.
In addition to filling in a little with potassium broth, you can use essential oils in your water to help suppress appetite and for detoxing/cleansing. My favorite two oils for this purpose are ginger, grapefruit and lemon.
Make a conscious effort not to have any “BLT’S” – bite, lick, taste, or sip. I know it’s easy to think, “Oh, I’ll just have one tiny bite of this, or one little sip of that soda.” I’m guilty of it too, but the reality is, those BLT’s creeping in can affect your results, and they can also set you up for failure and getting off track.
Lastly, visualize what you want your results to look like. Do you want to feel better, be healthier, jumpstart a new lifestyle? What does that look like to you? Visualizing can really help to keep you on track, especially when you’re thinking about straying from your plan.
Happy juicing this week, and remember, I’m always just an email or phone call away if you need me!
